7th Annual “Weekend in Central NY” Photography Contest
The 7th Annual ” Weekend in Central NY ” photo contest sponsored by Danella Photographic and the New Hartford Town Crier Newspaper will be taking place once again this September.
The contest photo opportunity window will open at 12:01 AM on Saturday, September 26th and will close at midnight, Sunday, the 27th of September. All Photographs must be taken during this time period within 100 miles of New Hartford, NY.
During this 48 hour time frame only, participants are invited to photograph what inspires, interests, or illustrates their feelings about the Mohawk Valley. The photos may depict our area’s natural beauty, its people, its problems, its architecture, its events, its culture or its way of life through the photographer’s visual interpretation.The submissions must be taken on the specified weekend during the specified hours, and the photos must be taken within 100 miles of New Hartford, NY.
Entry deadline is the 16th of October 2009. One entry per photographer. Photos may be dropped off at Danella Photographic, 8636 Seneca Turnpike in New Hartford any time prior to 6PM on October 12th.
Photos must be framed with a simple sturdy frame of wood or metal. Frames are required to be suitably wired for hanging. Any work submitted in a substandard frame that is not wired securely will be rejected. Maximum frame size is 16″x 20.”
A digital image of the submitted work is also requested ( if possible ) for future publication. There is no entry fee. Cash prizes will be awarded. 1st Prize $100, 2nd Prize $ 50.00, 3rd Prize $ 25.00. Two Honorable Mentions will be rewarded with a firm and heartfelt handshake from Andi Dinerstein of The Town Crier Newspaper . The ever popular and always controversial People’s Choice Award will be voted on and acknowledged at the show opening. The date of the opening has yet to be determined. A limited edition book is also planned.
Our exhibit will be on display at the New Hartford Public Library on Oxford Road in New Hartford during the month of November. The contest will be judged by local commercial photographer and educator Larry Pacilio. Mr. Pacilio is an accomplished commercial and architectural photographer. He is Director of Publications and Photography at Utica College. He is also an adjunct professor of photography at Utica College.
